Asset Types

Basic Asset Type Classes

Asset types are divided in three main classes. The utility of the types in each class are common to each other in the way that CenterScape functions with them

  1. Inventory
    • Physical assets that an RF Code asset tag is attached to in order to track a location.
    • Physical assets that do not have an RF Code asset tag but whos existence and location is important to document.
  2. Sensor
    • Sensors are reserved for RF Code Sensor tags and are designed to primarily process information from the sensors on the tag
    • Sensors can also be Rack Power Distribution Units that PDU tags broadcast information about
    • The location of sensors is tracked, but the detected location is likely more general than the assigned location of the sensor
  3. Summary - Location
    • These "assets" represent a location in the location tree, and calculate statistics based on the population of asset assigned, detected or otherwise referenced by the location

    • Summary assets are scoped to a location to associate their calculations to that node on the location tree

    • Racks in the datacenter are a hybrid Summary Location asset type that is technically a physical asset of the rack itself and a location since assets can be assigned to the rack
